Annual Letter
November, 2007
Dear Chess Supporter,
Thanks to your continued support, the U.S. Chess Trust has had another successful year.
We now have our own web site, making it easier to make donations electronically, if you wish: Check our site out!

This past year we awarded a total of $7,500 in scholarships among five students in the Scholar Chess Player Program, based on both academics and chess; with the help of the National Scholastic Chess Foundation this increased funding will continue for at least two more years.
Frank Samford has graciously increased his contribution to the Samford Fellowship Program, which has helped many of our best young players.
We have helped start a new Schein-Friedman Scholastic Recognition Project, aimed at players aged 7-17.
Last year we donated 438 chess sets, boards to schools in 26 states. The Trust also donated 80 scholastic and youth USCF memberships to needy kids.
We are happy to work with the Scholastic Council.

The Arnold Denker Tournament of High School Champions, sponsored by the Trust with the support of the Denker family, drew a record number of 50 participants from all states except for two. We continue to support the Susan Polgar Invitational Tournament for Girls as well.

Our donations of chess sets to our Armed Forces abroad continued and we received a commendation for those donations.
We are also proud to support American players in international junior and youth tournaments as well as aid our Olympiad team.

The World Chess Hall of Fame and Sidney Samole Museum, in Miami, Florida, led by Trust President Shane Samole continues to be a great showplace for chess.
The Trust has sent chess sets to start a chess program at the Bedford Womens Prison and chess is being taught in their Therapeutic Behavior Unit.
Remember your donations are federally tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Our Trustees are major Trust donors and serve without compensation and without reimbursement of their expenses.
Finally, chess should be a part of your will. The Trust has benefited from legacies from donors.
Contact your attorney or Barbara DeMaro at bduscf@aol.com for details about including the U.S. Chess Trust in your will.
